Paper Birds

  Paper birds. That's what greets me as I stroll through the mansion doors, or at least what's left of them.  I can recall the last time I was on business here; the mansion and the estate it sits on were grand and immaculate, a stark contrast to its present decay. I'll never forget that day, the bloodshed, and more importantly, the servant girl who had survived. The paper folded birds flutter down from the rafters over the foyer. Their wings are washed in the streams of grey light filtering through a slowly crumbling ceiling. I can't help but crack a faint smile as I reach out to touch one of her creations hovering in front of me. "My, my, I thought you hated my 'foolish' enchantments." I glance up to see Galyna perched upon the grand staircase, her chin resting on her arms as they lay crossed over her knees. The Writings of a Wayward Witch

  This blog's tagline is "The Writings of a Wayward Witch". Is it random that a blog which discusses just about nothing of witchcraft describes the author as a witch? Maybe a little bit, yes. I'd included "wayward" and "witch" in the tagline, partly for the sake of alliteration. However, "wayward", for me, refers to how unpredictable my life is, and how my way of living can often be taken as not being the "right way". As far as the "witch" aspect goes, that's very personal for me. I've been studying and practicing witchcraft since I was about thirteen years old. It's a path that has guided me through many trials and transformations. My relationship with the craft has evolved over the years as well. Being as it is so closely entwined with my most inner self, it's not something I personally feel particularly inclined to share (even with my closest friend).
